About LiftedNest

We started LiftedNest because every "dorm decor" guide online seemed to assume a Target run and a credit card with no limit. Ours doesn't. We started with an empty dorm room, a stack of command strips, and a budget that had to stretch across an entire semester — and we built the site we wish had existed then.

What we actually believe

A first dorm room or a first apartment is the first space almost anyone gets to call their own. It's also usually rented, usually small, and usually decorated on whatever's left over after tuition, rent, and groceries. Most home decor content ignores that reality completely. We built LiftedNest around three rules instead:

• If it needs a drill or a paint roller, we find the renter-safe version instead.Command strips, tension rods, and peel-and-stick everything exist for a reason.
• Every project gets a real number attached to it. Not "budget-friendly" — an actual total, so you can compare it to what's in your own account.
• The aesthetic has to be current. We track what's actually trending on Pinterest and figure out the version of it you can pull off in a rented 10x12 room.

How we work

LiftedNest is a small, independent site. We use AI tools to help with research and first drafts — it's faster than doing every bit of keyword and trend research by hand — but nothing publishes without a human editorial pass: checking that the budget numbers are real, that the "renter-safe" claims actually hold up, and that the room in the photo could exist on the budget in the text. If we get something wrong, we fix it — see our editorial policy for exactly how that process works.
